I have over 40 brushes in my makeup kit, but for my own personal use I only need four brushes to complete my speedy morning makeup. Most morning I don’t wear makeup because I will just have to remove it once I get to makeup school, but on the occasion I do, I try to do it as fast and concisely as possible. As I wash brushes everyday, I try to use the least amount for my personal routine, because washing brushes is the most tedious task of.
How I condense my makeup application to only using four brushes is by reusing each brush for multiple products. I give my brushes a quick clean with rubbing alcohol between product so the colours don’t turn muddy. This only works too with brushes that can be used for a multiple areas of the face and these four and shaped for optimal usability.

944 Tapered Contour is a small shaped face brush with a rounded tapered tip, which makes it the ideal shape to fit all the contours of the face. It’s soft point allows me to precisely apply powder under the eyes, around the nose and add definition around my cheeks. Using a small rush allows me to slowly build product on my face. Makeup is all about control. I find it much easier/safer to build my colour in small strokes than risk sweeping a load of product on my face.
Here’s how I tackle my base with one brush.
First I apply my foundation with my fingers (I find the warmth of my fingers melts the product seamlessly into my skin), then I lightly powder my t-zone with the brush. Next I contour my cheeks (lightly, I don’t like to look too chiseled), clean my brush with some alcohol and wipe it on a tissue to remove the colour. With the cleaned brush I apply blush.

As the name suggests 711 Pointed Tip Liner brush is ideal for eyeliner and any precise detailed work on the face. Being flat and rounded at the tip makes spot concealing my blemishes and pigmentation spots on point. I also use this brush to clean any sneaky mistakes with lipstick and eyeliner edges.

760 Liner/Brow is another flat densely packed brush that is angled for razor point application. For creating a winged eyeliner, the angled cut of the brush helps guide the flick. Even though this brush is stiff, the tip of the brush is thinner which allows for flexible strokes which is especially important for fluid eyeliner.
